CHRISTINA CONRAD
Born in New Zealand (12/18/42) …Conrad is the consummate "outsider" artist - a painter and sculptor, published poet, performer, filmmaker and teacher. She is the author of this fig tree has thorns, and her poems have appeared internationally in numerous journals and magazines in Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Canada, Europe and the U.K. They have also been widely anthologized in major collections, including The Oxford Book of Modern New Zealand Poetry, Kiwi and Emu, Big Smoke and The Penguin Book of Contemporary New Zealand Verse. Conrad is also represented in the Bloomsbury Book of Women Writers (U.K.) and has been the subject of several documentary films, including the feature documentary, QUEER STREET, which will have its world premiere in 2011. She is also the writer/director/designer of the groundbreaking short drama, JELLY'S PLACENTA, and has worked as a script editor/consultant on several award-winning short films.
Conrad’s paintings and clay icons have been exhibited in major galleries in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe.
